ip pstn (Internet Protocol Public Switched Network) is a reality.  Since BT commenced the 21CN project in early years of the twenty-first century SIP trunks have been being deployed to more and more businesses.  This ip pstn has been evident in the larger cities and is due to be rolled out across the rest of the UK giving us all access to high speed broadband eventually.  This ip pstn will deliver multi-media services through our telephone lines including on demand television via video format at speeds in the region of 40Mbits/s rather than at the paltry 1 to 2 Mbit many of us suffer with today.

So if you are considering upgrading your business’s telephony this year it does make sense to investigate ip pstn trunk provision instead of ISDN.  At TelephoneSystemsDirect we don’t believe it the right time to push ISDN2 and ISDN30 to one side yet as S I P has to mature and prove it is as resilient.
