isdn video conferencing

ISDN video conferencing is a means of communicating with other organisations through the digital public switch telephony network.

Dependant on the ISDN video conferencing product you have connected at each end of the link and the clarity of conversation and video definition, you will need varying bandwidth availability. (This is also true if you’re using IP instead of ISDN but that’s another article).

Each ISDN channel will give you a 128kbs capacity.  It may well be that your ISDN video conferencing requires 256kbs.  So it is necessary to utilise two channels of ISDN30e or a complete ISDN2e circuit (2 ch).

The Samsung OfficeServ (and older DCS & iDCS) telecoms platforms have the ability to present S0 buses to your ISDN video conferencing port.  It is so clever that if more is required it will dynamically allocate enough kbs.

Telephone Systems Direct have installed several ISDN video conferencing packages for our clients across the UK.  You will see by browsing through our on-line store that the number of manufacturers of ISDN video conferencing are not very high.  We will discuss whether a LifeSize or Polycom unit is most appropriate for your ISDN video conferencing needs.
