The term “leased lines” refers to dedicated circuits between two points for the sole use of a business. Many leased lines are utilised for data traffic between the head quarters of a company and its satellite branches.
Telephony over leased lines brings to mind the old signalling systems of 4-wire E&M, DC5 and AC15 …. but there were more. At TelephoneSystemsDirect we still come across these forms of leased lines now and again, but it is much rarer than it was in the mid 1980s.
