samsung telecom

Samsung_TelecomSamsung Telecom UK Ltd was the predecessor of the Samsung Network Division.

Samsung Telecom was formed when Samsung Electronics purchased the capital and assets of Securicor Telecoms when there had been a decision to revert to its core business was made by Securicor’s Board.

The HQ of Samsung Telecom was initially at Brookside Business Park, Middleton, Manchester at Unit B2 with an office in Eynsham, Oxfordshire, housing the service operation.  However, with the volume of goods being brought into the country to supply the European distribution chain allied to Samsung set-top box developments it soon became evident that larger premises were required.  A move into Units A1 and A2 proved successful with three sets of offices homing Logistics, Finance, Marketing, set-top-box, technical support and training as well as the directors.

History never stays still and the powers that be decided to relocate the majority of the staff to the Chertsey-Staines areas leaving only the warehousing and demo facilities operating.  A few years later the site costs led to a reversal of some of the decisions and although the Samsung Telecom marketing and management remain at the Chertsey headquarters the tech team has returned “Up North”.

Many in the telecoms industry will remember the original Samsung Telecom people: MD: David Norton; FD: Peter Webb; Marketing-Services Director: Ali Zartash-Lloyd and Tech Support Manager: Dave Ridley.  Where are they now?????
