voice conferencing
Voice conferencing has been a feature of telephony products since de-regulation in the 1980s and the breaking of BT’s monopoly.
During the early days voice conferencing analogue circuits imposed limitations on the number of conferees due to matching the impedances of these types of circuit. The advent of digital communications both in the public network as well as the PABX or key-system meant that more people could be part of conferences.
Specialised voice conferencing units were developed so that voice conferencing was possible round a large desk or conference table. These had probably three directional microphones and a central speaker.
Nowadays voice conferencing has moved on and with video conferencing means that international and national travel so that experts or colleagues can discuss face-to-face is not as necessary as it once was. With voice conferencing over the internet utilising a product such as Polycom’s SoundStation2 it is a matter of simply plugging into an unused port and dialling the distant group and you’re away.
Extension voice conferencing is a facility of the OfficeServ and DCS ranges from Samsung. Should you wish to know how to use the voice conferencing features please do call Telephone Systems Direct on 0800 652 8052 where one of our trainers or sales specialists will help you.
