voip call
A voip call is a way of making cheaper calls between you and other people. Rather than utilising the PSTN (ISDN or analogue trunks) you use your broadband connection to make your voice call. This voip call is what those using Skype or the Messenger services of MSN and Yahoo! are doing. In business a voip call may not leave the building.
The essence of a voip call is that the speech is digitised (as it is for TDM, ISDN2 or ISDN30) and then put into packets of data for transmission across the local IP network or LAN. This local-area-network is highly controlled by the company’s IT manager and will have Layer 3 (or 4) switches and routers with the QOS feature turned on. An audit should have been performed that lists all the active devices connected and will identify any potential bottlenecks. These degrade the performance of the workers operating the ERP and CRM applications which slow right down when too much data-traffic tries to go along a particular route.
Telephone Systems Direct has the experience to ensure this doesn’t happen when you choose to implement any voip call handling in your organisation.
