The voip pstn discussion will go on for some time yet.  Although SIP is rolling out across the UK in BT’s 21CN project it is only available in major conurbations.  Just as ISDN2 and ISDN30 took a few years to establish themselves so will S I P.  In voip pstn terms the changeover will be tariff driven.  Once S-I-P trunks and calling rates are more competitive than PSTN then financial arguments will become more persuasive.  VoIP, however, currently compliments pstn services for linking sites and home workers.
