Skype is web voip at its most common format.  Businesses use voip internally if they have IP telephones.  If any business communicates to other workers or sites through an internet connection then they also utilise web voip.

In the early days web voip was very hit and miss.  Why?  It was all due to the infrastructure of switches, routers and bridges.  Some had the QOS feature that is essential for prioritising voice-packets over their data equivalents.  Unfortunately many didn’t so the v-packets travelled at the same pace as d-packets and hence voice-traffic sometimes was broken and unintelligible.  Fortunately the web voip cloud is now fully compatible and the Quality of Speech functionality is completely enabled.
