The original Samsung phone for the DCS range of telephone systems was known as the Euro keyset. The big seller was the 12 button LCD handset. It had 12 soft programmable keys running up the right hand side of the key-set and is charcoal coloured to match most office desks. These worked on the Compact, Compact II and DCS systems.

The handsets were upgraded to a new 5000 series black and silver key set when they launched the iDCS100 and the iDCS500. The older Euro Samsung models were not useable on these latest PBXs as it would mean that the Koreans would have to test all new features on both handset types. After pressure from the Samsung Telecoms dealer network, Korea agreed to make the new telephony platforms backward compatible with older hand-sets.

So these days if you have some old Samsung phone stock they will still work on the very latest OfficeServ 7000 series.
