Wireless QOS ensures you get intelligible speech through your handset.

So what is wireless QOS?  It stands for Quality of Service.  It is a feature of routers, switches and Wireless Access Points that ensure that voice packets are prioritised over data.  Why the need for prioritisation?  Without it, the data-packets would slow the verbal parcels of ones and noughts so that when they are reconstituted there might be an appreciable time lag.  This would take conversations back to the days when you had to say “Over” before the person at the other end can start.

The OfficeServ 7000 telephony platforms utilise the SMT R2000 WAP for Wi-Fi communications.  It employs wireless QOS.

You may well wonder why mobile text messages are slower to be delivered sometimes than a normal instantaneous phone call.  This is all to do with wireless QOS (amongst other factors).

If you want to know more about wireless QOS why not ring us at Telephone Systems Direct on 0800 652 8052.  We’ll be happy to help.
